Description
Provides financial support for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) through two streams:
- Preschool Autism Funding: Supports hiring an Autism Assistant for children receiving Intensive Behavioural Intervention (IBI).
- School-age Autism Funding: Helps cover costs for one-on-one tutors or aides for community-based activities or tutoring outside school hours.
Benefit Amount
- Preschool: Covers 20–25 hours/week of Autism Assistant wages and benefits, based on the Early Years Centre wage grid. Includes 12.59% for employer-related costs (CPP, EI, WCB, vacation pay).
- School-age: Funding varies and is provided through the AccessAbility Supports program.
Eligibility Criteria
- Preschool: Child must be diagnosed with ASD and enrolled in the Early Years Autism Service.
- School-age: Child must be diagnosed with ASD, enrolled in school, and require adult support for community activities or tutoring.
Application Process
- Preschool: An Early Years Autism Specialist helps complete and submit the application. Once approved, an Autism Funding Agreement is signed, and services can begin.
- School-age: Apply through the AccessAbility Supports program.
