Eligibility Criteria
Note: Self-referrals are not accepted. Applicants must work with an Employment Case Manager, typically accessed through a local WorkBC Centre. To qualify for the Opportunities Fund, applicants must:
- Have a self-disclosed disability or chronic health condition
- Be unemployed or underemployed
- Be legally eligible to work in Canada
- Not be eligible for Employment Insurance (EI) programs and services
- Reside in one of the following regions: Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley, Sea to Sky Corridor, or Sunshine Coast
Application Process
- Connect with an Employment Case Manager: Visit your local WorkBC Centre to initiate the application process.
- Assessment and Planning: Collaborate with your Case Manager to assess your employment needs and develop a personalized action plan.
- Application Submission: Your Case Manager will assist in submitting the necessary documentation to the BCCFA.
Appeal Process
If you disagree with a decision regarding your application or benefit amount, you can request a reconsideration. You have 20 business days from the date of the decision to submit a Request for Reconsideration form. If unsatisfied with the reconsideration outcome, you have 7 business days from the notification to submit a Notice of Appeal to the Employment and Assistance Appeal Tribunal.
