Benefit Amount

CKNW Kids’ Fund offers grants in the following categories:

  • Therapies: Up to $2,500 per year (e.g., speech, occupational, physical therapy).
  • Tutoring: Up to $1,800 per year for educational support.
  • Bursaries: Up to $1,500 per year for specialized educational programs.
  • Equipment: Up to $5,000 per year for items like wheelchairs, hearing aids, or assistive technology.

Grants can be renewed for up to three consecutive years with updated applications each year.

Eligibility Criteria

For Individual Families To qualify for funding:

  • Residency: The child must reside in British Columbia.
  • Age: The child must be under 19 years old.
  • Financial Need: Families should demonstrate financial need, often indicated by household income.
  • Lack of Alternative Funding: The requested support should not be available through government programs or other funding sources.

Application Process

  • Download the Application Form: Access the Individual Funding Application Form.
  • Prepare Supporting Documents:
    • A letter of introduction detailing the family’s situation and the need for assistance.
    • A letter of support from a professional (e.g., doctor, therapist) confirming the necessity of the requested support.
    • The most recent Notice of Assessment from Revenue Canada.
    • A current record of monthly income and expenses.
  • Submit the Application: Send the completed form and supporting documents to the CKNW Kids’ Fund office.

Appeal Process

If an application is declined or if the applicant disagrees with the funding decision, they can contact the CKNW Kids’ Fund office to discuss the outcome. While there isn’t a formal appeal process outlined, the organization encourages open communication to address concerns.
