Description
If you don’t have enough income to pay for the basic room, you may be eligible for a subsidy through the Long-Term Care Home Rate Reduction Program.
Benefit Amount
Up to $1,938.46 a month.
Eligibility Criteria
You may be eligible if:
- your long-term care accommodation is basic (only basic is covered – not private or semi-private)
- your net income is within the low-income threshold. Visit “how income is calculated” to learn more.
Application Process
To apply for Long-term care accommodation costs and subsidy you need to do the following:
- you must re-apply for a rate reduction each year. Whether you are applying for the first time or re-applying, the process is the same.
- Make sure you are receiving all the benefits you might be eligible for.
- Gather information about all your sources of income.
- Inform your long-term care home that you intend to apply. The home will provide you with the application form(s) and can help you complete the application.
- Complete and submit the application, along with any required supporting documents, to your long-term care home.
