Description

The PDD program supports adults (18+) with developmental disabilities to live as independently as possible in their communities. It funds services that help individuals with:

• Daily living
• Employment
• Community participation
• Specialized supports (e.g., behavioral or mental health services)

Benefit Amount

There is no fixed dollar amount. Funding is individualized based on assessed needs and may cover:

• Community living supports (e.g., group homes, supported independent living)
• Employment supports
• Community access supports
• Specialized services (e.g., behavioral therapy, mental health support)

Eligibility Criteria

• To qualify, you must:
  • Be 18 years or older
  • Be a resident of Alberta
  • Have a developmental disability that:
    • Originated before age 18
    • Is permanent
    • Significantly affects daily functioning
  • Provide documentation such as:
    • Psychological assessments
    • Medical records

Application Process

• Contact your local Disability Services office or visit Alberta.ca PDD webpage.
• Complete an intake interview and submit required documentation.
• Undergo an eligibility assessment.
• If eligible, work with a PDD coordinator to develop an Individual Support Plan (ISP).

• You can request a review or file a formal appeal.
