Benefit Amount

• $150/month during pregnancy and for each child under five.
• One-time $150 payment in the month of the child’s birth.
• Multiple births receive multiple payments.

Eligibility Criteria

• Must be a permanent resident of Newfoundland and Labrador.
• Must be pregnant or have a child under five.
• Must be low-income (typically eligible if receiving Income Support or the NL Child Benefit).

Application Process

• During pregnancy: Apply online or call 1-800-508-4788.
• After birth: Complete the Canada Child Benefit application. PECNS is automatically included with the NL Child Benefit.
