Description
RAMP provides non-repayable, non-taxable grants to help lower-income Albertans with mobility challenges make permanent modifications to their homes. These changes improve accessibility and mobility within the home, allowing individuals to live more independently.
Benefit Amount
- Up to $7,500 per year for eligible modifications.
- Up to $15,000 over 10 years for the same residence.
- Additional funding may be available in exceptional cases.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, applicants must:
- Be a resident of Alberta.
- Have a permanent mobility challenge (e.g., use a wheelchair, walker, or cane).
- Have a household income below the program’s threshold.
- Own or rent the home being modified (with landlord consent if renting).
- The home must be the primary residence of the person with the disability.
Application Process
- Download the Application Package from the Alberta.ca RAMP page.
- Complete the forms, including:
- Applicant information
- Proof of income
- Medical verification of mobility challenge
- Quotes for proposed modifications
- Submit the application by mail or email to the RAMP office.
- Wait for approval before starting any work. Retroactive funding is not guaranteed.
Possible Outcomes & Appeal Process
If your application is denied or the grant amount is less than expected, you can:
- Request a review by contacting the RAMP office.
- Provide additional documentation or clarification.
If unresolved, escalate to the Community and Social Services dispute resolution process.
