Description

This program provides temporary relief to families caring for a child with an intellectual disability. It helps reduce caregiver stress and supports family stability.

Benefit Amount

• Flexible respite options: in-home, out-of-home, or community-based
• Amount and type of support are individualized based on family needs and availability of services

Eligibility Criteria

You may qualify if:

• You are a resident of Saskatchewan
• You are the primary caregiver of a child (under 18) with a diagnosed intellectual disability
• The child’s needs require ongoing supervision or care
• You are not already receiving equivalent respite through another program

Application Process

1. Contact your local Ministry of Social Services office or a Community Living Service Delivery (CLSD) worker.
2. Complete an assessment of your family’s needs.
3. Provide documentation of the child’s diagnosis and care requirements.
4. A case plan will be developed to determine the type and amount of respite support.

Appeal Process

If denied or if you disagree with the level of support:

• Request a review through your caseworker.
• You may also file a formal appeal with the Ministry of Social Services.
